tumbalalaika – prendimi l’anima
Title song from the film “The Soul Keeper”
My goals…
- To unearth the musical beauty, emotions and story within each song I sing and communicate them to an audience;
- To explore and develop the unique vocal talent of every student;
- To render piano playing in a student’s life fun, gratifying and lasting;
- To unite disparate voices in an expressive and multicolored choral performance;
This is my ongoing life adventure
I have always been equally passionate about performing and teaching.
From jazz to musical theater and folk, from Jewish to Italian song – what an honor and joy it is to sing concerts throughout Italy, Europe and the United States in such a variety of musical styles and languages and with phenomenal musicians!
I have maintained a private voice and piano studio for years, equally comfortable teaching children and adults, and ever updating and developing my own technique while imparting what I know and love to others. While living in Italy, I taught at the Bernstein School of Musical Theater of Bologna, with whom I continue to collaborate, and the Florence Academy of Music. Since 2003, I have divided my time between Italy and the US. At the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts (partnered with the Colorado Music Festival) in Lafayette, Colorado, I teach voice and piano, and direct both the adult theater group, Broadway Boomers, and the women’s vocal ensemble Bell’A’Cappella. I am an accredited instructor of the remarkable, Australian-developed piano method Simply Music. Several times a year, I travel to Italy to teach master classes in voice for the Amici della Musica of Florence, as well as at the Nicolò Paganini Conservatory of Genoa, where I am professor of jazz voice.
And ever woven into this rich tapestry, I perform concerts dedicated to the jazz, ethnic and musical theatre voice.
