ShowStoppers Glee Club
Research at Rice University recently concluded that singing decreases stress, increases positive hormones, helps develop concentration and memory skills, and creates a strong sense of belonging to a community. With all of this in mind, we invite you to join our ensemble of singers, ages 14 to 104+, in the CMA ShowStoppers Glee Club!
Together, we’re revving up the fun by enjoying some of our favorite ensemble songs from the vast Broadway musical repertoire. Whether we’re “Singing in the Rain” or giving our “…Regards to Broadway,” we’re always creating “Some Enchanted Evening” together!
What is jazz? When Louis Armstrong was asked this question, he replied, “Jazz is my idea of how a tune should go.” Chick Webb, who discovered Ella Fitzgerald, said, “It’s like lovin’ a gal, and havin’ a fight, and then seein’ her again.” According to CMA’s Faye Nepon, “Jazz is a divine showcase for the voice!”
The CMA Jazz Vocal Ensemble is all about discovering the world of jazz together. When you combine several voices at once, the reward is that much greater. This small, select vocal ensemble explores challenging jazz arrangements, both accompanied and a cappella. Email Faye Nepon or contact the CMA today to get more information and find out if this is the world you’ve longed to discover!
